Violino

Diplomatosi in Italia, si perfeziona in Germania ed Austria e successivamentenegli Stati Uniti con Henryk Kowalski e Franco Gulli grazie ad una borsa di studio del M° Leonard Bernstein. Ottiene poi il Certificate of Advanced Studies in Chamber Music come assistente del Quartetto Fine Arts presso l’Università del Wisconsin a Milwaukee partecipando a master class con il Kronos Quartet e Rostislav Dubinski e tenendo master class di violino e di musica da camera.Membro delChristopher Quartet dal 1984 al 1994, effettua tournée in Sud America, Stati Uniti ed in Italia,incidendo con questa formazione musiche di Gian Francesco Malipiero, Karl Weigl, Joaquin Turina e Leonard Salzedo. Parallelamente, dal 1986 comincia l’attività orchestrale che lo porta a suonare con orchestre quali la Dallas Opera, Milwaukee Ballet, BBC Philharmonic, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Hallè Orchestra, London City Ballet, Kringkastingsorkestret-Oslo, Orchestra Sinfonica Portoghese ed in Italia con l’Orchestra del Teatro Comunale di Bologna e la Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini. La passione per la musica lo ha spinto sui palcoscenici di tutto il mondo, dalla Francia alla Norvegia, dall’Ungheria all’Isola di Man, dal Giappone alla Colombia, dall’India al Brasile. E’ docente di Violino al Conservatorio di Musica di Trapani dal 2008.


Joseph Cardas graduated in Italy and went on to specialise first in Germany and Austria, then in the United States, with Henryk Kowalski and Franco Gulli, thanks to a scholarship granted by Conductor Leonard Bernstein. He received a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Chamber Music as assistant to the Fine Arts Quartet at the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, participating in master classes among others with the Kronos Quartet and Rostislav Dubinski, while teaching violin and chamber music classes. As a member of the Christopher Quartet between 1984 to 1994, he toured South America, the United States and Italy; with this formation he recorded music by Gian Francesco Malipiero, Karl Weigl, Joaquin Turina and Leonard Salzedo. Meanwhile, from 1986 he also participated in orchestral activities, playing with orchestras such as the Dallas Opera, Milwaukee Ballet, BBC Philharmonic, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Hallè Orchestra, London City Ballet, Kringkastingsorkestret-Oslo, Portuguese Symphonic Orchestra, and in Italy with the Orchestra del Teatro Comunale di Bologna and with the Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini. His passion for music has driven him to perform worldwide, from France to Norway, from Hungary to the Isle of Man, from Japan to Columbia, from India to Brazil. He has been teaching Violin in the Italian Music Conservatory system since 2008 holding positions in Trapani, Benevento and Cremona.
